Pt 1 {SWC}

Hello Friends and Followers!
I’m back (and I saw that wince)…. These last few weeks have been really awesome.  Those of you who know me personally know that I have been away traveling. I'm sure the rest of you will want to hear all about it, so let’s get started!
This first (short) post is going to be about Abigail’s and my trip to Still Waters Camp in Indiana.
I had a fantastic time and met so many new friends and got to see a lot of old ones too.  It was wonderful; there is no way to describe it. But I think some pictures might work even though words wouldn't!
Here are pictures taken during camp:

....and....

Here is a small article that explains our camp way better than I ever could:

Expect more travel posts soon :D

Strawberry Picking With Friends!

Sometime during this past week Mom got a call from one of her friends....it was about going strawberry picking with them. We always like to have some strawberry freezer jam and frozen strawberries (for smoothies) around…so Mom said “yes”!

On Tuesday we got our containers together and drove over to the strawberry patch to pick!

We weighed our buckets and they showed us where to pick at.  Then the picking began :)
{The pickers}
It was a lot of fun and there was plenty of chatting! But even though we talked, we still picked!

Our Grand Totals:
Aunt Jeanine and Joanna: 15 pounds (Aunt Jeanine had also been to pick a few days before)
Us: 45 pounds

Our strawberries!
All the messy hands!!

After weighing in and paying, we headed home!

At home Mom and I made all the strawberry’s into jam and also put some in bags to be frozen.
Now we are all stocked up for the year!

Thanks for stopping by :)
Have a wonderful rest of the week everyone!

Twins Again! {Skylark & Carmel}

Another set of twins has been born here on the family farmette. We are so excited!

This morning Marshmallow had her kids. They are still wobbling around getting used to life, but everything went well and Marshmallow is very proud!
There is a brown doeling and a white buckling. They are so cuddly and soft!

(I know you want to see pictures!)

Carmel (doeling)

Skylark (buckling)

Don't you agree!!! Aren't they precious?

--We had company this week; from Quebec and New York...but unfortunately no pictures were taken :(
Suffice it to say that everyone had a wonderful time and forgot to take pictures! Sorry...--

P.S. Don't forget to go see my post on Onyx and Eloise (our other twins)

The XXS Garden

I have garden genes on both sides of the family, and can usually get things to grow…but this year it seems that time has been buzzing by like crazy! I really wanted to do some seed plants, but when I remembered again…..it was way to late : ( Well, maybe next year.

I saw this creative way to do seed starters and want to try it…. here is the link: http://www.simplyvintagegirl.com/blog/index.php/2012/03/26/eggshells-dirt-seeds/

Anyways, no one laugh at our tiny little garden this year (thus the name XXS), we do hope to have quite a bit of produce from it. Even though it is small!

--------

Even if we don’t have a huge garden, we do have a whole bank of ivy and also another separate bank of daffodil plants and a bunch of flowers and bushes; which makes for a lot of weeding! Mom also has her herb garden and potted plants but we really didn’t have any other things (like vegetables) until today…

Papa and Momma went on one of their Saturday shopping excursions and brought some vegetables and marigolds for me to plant, also some more herbs to go in her H-Garden (she got some new ones that can go in goat cheese).

As for the XXS Garden this is what we planted (no laughing anyone): 3 Tomato plants, 2 Zucchini, 2 Squash, 2 cucumbers and 6 marigolds.

A lot of work has gone into the XXS Garden….

I weeded

Papa tilled the ground (with a pitch fork)

Lincoln and Papa spread manure

Papa and Lincoln made me a path of bricks through the middle

I planted all the plants

Bethany watered
