Aunt Jody started it all off by introducing two experienced doughnut makers; Becca and Lillian.
Gathering...
Above: Becca & Lillian
Becca and Lillian showed us the steps and helped us roll out the dough. So many little hands were ready to help and very soon all the doughnuts were cut out and ready to rise!
Many hands make light work!
Hard workers!
It took the doughnuts about a half hour to rise. We talked and played while they rose...But then we were back to work! The next step was frying the doughnuts. Mmmm.... the smell was heavenly!
In about 60 seconds they were ready! From here they went onto the cooling table.
Where Anna waited till they were cooled off and then took them over to the "icing fillers".
Powdering.....
And then the very last step....taste testing! Well, we had to make sure they tasted "normal"! They didn't....they tasted amazing!
Fresh DOUGHNUTS..... [the boys didn't have to be told twice :) ]
A tasty picture....
Splitting a doughnut :) Faith & Melissa
and David. [isn't he cute?]
When all the filled doughnuts were made we still weren't quite finished.... We still had glazed to make! Yummy!
Frying
Dipping
and finished!
Mmmm. they were so good! But we still were not done....we still had doughnut holes {sorry, no pictures} and blueberry doughnuts to make! And yes, they were good too!
Then all the doughnuts were made.
----Let's see what the boys do while us girls made these doughnuts----
Play with trucks....or pumpkins :)
Play with the i-pod...
take the younger kids for a ride in the pony cart...
or play games... with the i-pod.
Doughnut Fact Sheet:
#1 Yes, it is possible to eat way too many doughnuts.
#2 Fresh homemade doughnuts smell wonderful [wonderful].#3 There is nothing like a warm doughnut.
#4 a side effect from eating to many doughnuts is; dreaming about getting kidnapped and being forced to eat cream filled doughnuts [it was horrible]…… and finally fact number 5: making doughnuts with friends will involve lots of iced faces and powered hair!
Making doughnuts was such fun... Thank you Aunt Jody! I loved it and I learned so many new things :D {A fun question...how many times was the word 'doughnut' used? Why doughnut you count and see?}
