A Morning

Rise and shine it’s time to get up! *yawn* it’s almost 7:00 and I’m headed out to the barn. Want to come along? [It’s a great way to start your day!]

I trot [metaphorically] into the kitchen. Mom is bustling around the kitchen getting the milking supplies ready and Papa is tying his shoes. They greet me with a smile and “hello princess”. My morning has officially begun!

milking supplies {milk pail-w/strainer- and mug full of
hot water and a tad of bleach- cloth}

I run up to the barn and am greeted by a “chorus of animal hellos”.
I turn on the barn lights and get a scoop of grain. -- Cocoa jumps up on the stand and I clean her udder with the cloth and water/bleach solution. Finally its time to milk!

Finished [w/Cocoa]

Once Cocoa is done, it’s time to milk Marshmallow! Mom was able to get a short video clip of me milking Marshmallow. Here it is; {I hope it works}

When all the milking is finished, it’s time to feed the other barn animals.  They are always so excited to see you! [Especially if you have some feed]

Feeding our 2 dry [not in milk] does

Noodles & Mocha...

Elaine + Eliza [and 11 other hens] = noise!
 I feed the chickens and watch them peck at their corn. [I wonder what it would be like not to have teeth?]
--- [a little later] I'm finished with all the barn chores.

 I walk down from the barn...The sun peeks out from behind the clouds and I hear the school bus go by. Geneva starts barking and runs to chase the cats. The wind rustles through the leaves and flows past me.  Meanwhile sleeping things begin to wake and birds chirp.
-This is why I love mornings!-

I walk into the house and Mom takes the milk pail from me. She puts the milk through another strainer...
and pours it into a pot- because- she’s decided to make Cottage Cheese!

Well, thanks for coming along with me this lovely morning! [Sorry this post was done hastily]
Anyways, have a wonderful rest of the day :)

Keepers -or the Chalk Talk-

About the time of year when school starts up, Keepers @ Home begins.
Yesterday our group gathered at Barnyard Art Studio & Gallery. We were all full of anticipation for our first meeting of the year! Part of it was getting together and the other half was attending our first Chalk Talk.

~We drove down a long lane, passed an old farmhouse and drove behind a creaky red barn. We were nervous, {wondering if we were at the right place} when we saw 2 other {familiar} cars.
Climbing out of our car we entered the quaint little shop.
“How adorable”!  Paintings, aprons, herbs, etcetera, lined the shop.  Exposed structure beams, soft light and a loft above all combined to create a unique atmosphere.
After {much} looking around we were seated and the lights turned off.  Music started up and then faded as a story began. The artist started chalking on a huge piece of paper… and a picture began to form.

She scribbled (literally), smudged, smoothed and chalked. First the sky, the school house then the fence and lastly the people. I snapped quickly as the picture appeared.

The finished picture; under different lights.

She made it look so easy! She did it so fast, and it turned out so nice! But then, when it was our Chalk Class….um, then we realized what an art it really was :) But, still everyone did a great job… see for yourself:
(our photos under the different light)
We each chalked a scarecrow! {it was very scary}
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After some more exploring in the shop we headed outside to view the farmyard and {a few of us} took pictures...of ourselves! The barn was a perfect backdrop!

Thanks for coming over. I hope you do something fun this weekend! [*hint*You should try chalking]

Arizona -- [and the Wedding]

We go faster and faster, then the plane lifts off.  As we soar higher above the ground everything keeps getting smaller; till the cars look like toys and the ground like a Monopoly board… Finally the seatbelt sign flashes off, I recline my seat and take out my notepad to write.
My pen keeps moving slower as I recount all the memories made this past week.  I look out my window again and wonder how time can fly so fast?
i vacations and  I’ll use any excuse to take one. This time it was because a friend {Hannah} was getting married. The place? Arizona. We flew out last Thursday {only Papa, Momma, Abigail & I -- Lincoln & Bethany got to stay with Uncle Steve, Aunt Jen and Patrick}.
The flight went well and very soon we had arrived! Time sort of blended together after that.  I was having so much fun that I forgot to remember to remember what I was doing!
I do remember some things though, like; lots of laughing, going to the library barefoot, riding in the go-cart, delicious meals, late night talks and tons of fun.  I was having a blast.
All of a sudden it was THE WEDDING! I greeted everyone as they came in and gave them a program.  Then (let’s skip ahead shall we?) I was looking down the aisle and Hannah (and her Dad) were walking down.  I was in total shock. The thought that “this cannot be real” went through my mind more than once. But it was. {I still can’t believe it}
So now, Hannah’s married…sniff, sniff.  The wedding was beautiful and everything was  so perfect! I’m going to miss Hannah, but I know she’s really, really, happy… and I’m sure Jaylon is happy too : )
The plane will be landing in a few moments, so I had better put my things up.
